Taco is designed with privacy in mind. We collect minimal information necessary to provide our AI-powered food analysis service:

• Food Photos: Images you capture or upload for analysis
• Anonymous Usage Data: A locally-generated UUID to track your meal history (no account creation required)
• Personal Preferences: Height, weight, health goals, and notification preferences (optional, stored locally and synchronized with our servers)
• Analysis Results: AI-generated food analysis, nutrition scores, meal summaries, health insights, and recommendations
• Usage Analytics: Anonymous app usage patterns to improve our service

2. How We Use Your Information

Your information is used solely to:

• Analyze your food photos using AI technology (OpenAI ChatGPT-4o)
• Provide comprehensive nutrition insights, health analysis, and personalized recommendations
• Maintain your meal history and enable progress tracking
• Send optional meal reminder notifications (if enabled by you)
• Process background analysis when you capture photos and use other apps
• Improve the accuracy of our food analysis algorithms
• Provide future statistics and trend analysis features

3. Data Storage and Security

• Cloud Storage: Images are stored securely on Supabase with encryption
• Database: Meal data is stored in a secure PostgreSQL database with normalized architecture
• Anonymous Access: No account creation required - we use anonymous authentication with UUID-based data isolation
• Background Processing: Analysis continues securely in the background even when you're using other apps
• Data Retention: Your data is retained to provide continuous service unless you request deletion
• Local Storage: Preferences and settings are stored locally on your device and synchronized with our servers

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• OpenAI: For AI-powered food analysis. Your food images are sent to OpenAI ChatGPT-4o for processing and may be used by OpenAI to train and improve their AI models in accordance with OpenAI's usage policies. Important: OpenAI's models are not fine-tuned for medical advice and information is for educational purposes only. We recommend reviewing OpenAI's Usage Policies for more details.
• Supabase: For secure data storage, file storage, and backend services
• Railway: For hosting our backend infrastructure
• Apple Push Notification Service: For meal reminder notifications (only if you enable this feature)

5. Notifications and Background Processing

• Meal Reminders: Optional notifications are sent locally from your device (not from our servers)
• Analysis Notifications: We send notifications when background food analysis is complete
• Background Processing: The app continues analyzing your photos in the background for 10-15 seconds after capture
• Control: You can disable all notifications in the app settings at any time

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your stored data
• Request deletion of your data
• Opt out of data collection (note: this will limit app functionality)
• Control notification preferences
• Contact us with privacy concerns

7. Children's Privacy

Taco is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
